RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team returns to the court following a seven-day break Saturday night at perennial OVC contender Austin Peay. Wazoo Sports Network will be televising the game beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
Eastern Kentucky (5-5, 1-1 OVC) went 4-5 in OVC road games last year. However, the Colonels have won just once in Clarksville over the last 15 seasons (1-16). EKU’s lone win in that span was a 67-63 overtime decision on Jan. 13, 2005. The last two games in Clarksville between these two teams have been decided by a total of seven points.
Senior
Justin Stommes will be making his 100th appearance in an EKU uniform Saturday. The guard netted a personal-high five three-pointers at No. 20 Minnesota on Dec. 11. Stommes tallied a team-high 20 points in the most recent meeting at Austin Peay on Jan. 28, 2010.
Austin Peay (6-6, 2-0) is one of only three undefeated teams in league play. The Governors picked up road wins at Southeast Missouri and Eastern Illinois in early December. APSU has played 10 of its first 12 games on the road. Newcomer TyShwan Edmondson averages an OVC-best 19.7 points per game.
Following Saturday’s game, Eastern continues its two-game OVC road swing at Tennessee State on Tuesday, Dec. 21.
