EKU Hopes to Find Offensive Spark at Tennessee State

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team finishes its two-game OVC road swing Tuesday night at Tennessee State. Tip time is set for 8:30 p.m. ET.

The Colonels (5-6, 1-1 OVC) had one of their worst three-point shooting nights in head coach Jeff Neubauer’s tenure Saturday night at Austin Peay. EKU went 3-for-18 (16.7 percent) from long range at APSU, marking the team’s worst three-point shooting percentage since shooting 13.0 percent (3-of-23) in a loss at Tennessee Tech on Jan. 4, 2007.

One of the few highlights from the setback at Austin Peay was the play of junior Jaron Jones who came off the bench to tally season highs in both points (nine) and rebounds (six).

Tennessee State (5-6, 2-1) has won four straight games thanks to an overtime victory over Morehead State Saturday evening. Kenny Moore led the Tigers with 19 points, six of which came in overtime, and 11 rebounds. TSU shot 61.9 percent from the floor in the second half to force the extra session.

Following Tuesday’s game, Eastern has a week off to celebrate the holiday season before traveling to Georgia on Dec. 31.
