Colonels Face Tough Road Test at Georgia Friday

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team continues its five-game road swing Friday afternoon at Georgia. Fox Sports South will be televising the game live beginning at 1 p.m. ET.

This will be Eastern’s (5-7, 1-3 OVC) first test against an SEC opponent since battling Kentucky four years ago. The Colonels have struggled mightily at the offensive end of the court the past three games as EKU has averaged just 52.7 points per game and shot 34.4 percent (53-of-154) from the floor. Junior Joshua Jones provided an offensive spark in the previous game at Tennessee State with season highs in points (15) and assists (four).

Georgia (10-2, 0-0 SEC) has won seven consecutive games following a 70-55 decision over Charleston Southern Tuesday evening. The Bulldogs already own victories over Georgia Tech, Colorado and UAB. Former Tennessee State guard Gerald Robinson is the team’s leading assist man (56) and ranks third in scoring (12.9 ppg).

This is the second meeting between the two programs. Georgia won the only other contest, 76-68, in the 2005 Paradise Jam. That game was Jeff Neubauer’s third game as head coach at Eastern Kentucky.

Following Friday’s game, Eastern Kentucky continues its tour of Georgia on Sunday at Georgia Southern.
