CHARLESTON, Ill. –
Eastern Kentucky will conclude its two-game road trip on Saturday at Ohio Valley Conference leader Eastern Illinois. The Panthers are riding a 12-game winning streak. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET.

The game will air live in the Richmond area on WEKY 1340 AM, and can be heard worldwide on EKUSports.com.

Eastern Kentucky (11-13, 7-7 OVC) sits in fourth place in the OVC with four games remaining in the regular season. Eastern Illinois (17-8, 12-1 OVC) strengthened its hold on the top spot by beating second place Morehead State on Thursday.

This is the 26th meeting between Eastern Kentucky and Eastern Illinois. EKU leads the all-time series 14-11, but EIU has won five straight, and eight of the last nine between the two teams.

On Thursday, Eastern led from wire-to-wire in a 50-45 victory at Southeast Missouri State, but the game wasn’t decided until freshman Alex Jones hit two free throws with three seconds remaining. Jones led EKU with 15 points to go along with six rebounds and three blocks. Freshman Shakeyia Colyer scored 13 points.

Over her last eight games Colyer is averaging 14.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

Eastern Illinois is in the midst of a 12-game winning streak, including 11 straight OVC games. The Panthers have yet to lose during the 2010 calendar year. EIU’s only conference loss this season was at Austin Peay in early December.

During Eastern Illinois’ winning streak, no team has held the Panthers to fewer points than EKU did on Jan. 14 in Richmond. The Lady Colonels fell 60-50 in the first meeting between the two teams.

In that game, a 9-2 run late in the second half by the Panthers doomed Eastern Kentucky. Jones recorded her fifth double-double of the season, finishing with 10 points and 10 rebounds, for EKU. Freshman Ta’Kenya Nixon led the Panthers with 16 points and 17 rebounds. Dominique Sims added 17 points and eight boards. Freshman Brittany Coles finished with a team-high 13 points for the Lady Colonels. Junior Cherie White contributed nine points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals.

The Panthers are coming off a 74-63 victory over second place Morehead State on Thursday. The win stretched EIU’s lead in the standings to a game and a half.

Eastern Illinois shot 46.8 percent, including 54.8 percent in the second half, against Morehead State. Nixon posted a triple double with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Dominique Sims had 15 points and seven rebounds.

For the season, Nixon leads the team in the same three categories, scoring (13.1 ppg), rebounding (7.0 rpg) and assists (4.9 apg). Maggie Kloak contributes 12.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
