EKU Men's Tennis Stays Perfect in OVC Race

Sophomore Niklas Schroeder
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team cruised to a 6-1 win over host Austin Peay Friday afternoon. With the win, the Colonels (13-8, 6-0 OVC) kept their perfect conference record intact.

All five of EKU’s singles victories came in straight sets. Sophomore Carles Pons dropped just two games in the No. 6 contest. Both Niklas Schroeder (No. 2) and Hugo Klientovsky (No. 3) finished their matches by winning a tie-breaker.

“Lots of teams are gunning for us right now,” EKU head coach Rob Oertel said. “I’m proud of our guys for holding strong under the pressure.”

Eastern Kentucky is right back in action tomorrow, April 3 in a non-conference battle against SIU Edwardsville.
