RICHMOND, Ky. – There will be plenty of three-point shots attempted Saturday night when the Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team hosts Tennessee State in McBrayer Arena. The game, presented by State Farm Insurance, is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
Eastern Kentucky (11-10, 5-5 OVC) and Tennessee State are the top two three-point shooting teams in the OVC. EKU makes a league-high 8.0 three-pointers per game while Tennessee State is right behind at 7.6 threes per game. The Tigers also lead the conference in three-point shooting percentage at 38.1 percent.
Tennessee State (10-10, 7-3) was picked to finish seventh in the preseason OVC poll, but the Tigers currently sit one game behind league leader Austin Peay. TSU is coming off a tough 72-65 loss at Morehead State Thursday night where the Tigers shot a season-high 51.1 percent from the floor. Forwards Robert Covington and Kenny Moore both rank among the top-10 OVC leaders in scoring and rebounding.
EKU leads the all-time series by a count of 25-23. Tennessee State held the Colonels to a season-low 49 points in the first meeting this year.
