TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team blanked host Eastern Illinois Saturday afternoon, 7-0. The Colonels (13-4, 2-0 OVC) have now won 18 consecutive regular season league matches dating back to 2008.
EKU won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Senior
Alex Das (No. 1) and junior
Hugo Klientovsky (No. 2) each dropped just one game.
“I was happy to see
Emilio Piriz,
Carles Pons and
Jan Dombrowski get some playing time today and help us pick up another OVC win,” Eastern Kentucky head coach
Rob Oertel said.
The match was moved indoors to Wabash Valley Tennis Club in Terre Haute, Ind., due to inclement weather at Eastern Illinois.
The Colonels conclude their home schedule next weekend against SIU Edwardsville (April 1) and Jacksonville State (April 2).
