RICHMOND, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University women’s soccer team will travel up I-75 on Tuesday to face in-state rival Kentucky at 7:00 p.m. at the UK Soccer Complex. It is the first meeting between the Colonels and the Wildcats since 2006.

EKU (0-1), which is seeking its fourth consecutive berth in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament this season, has only faced UK (1-0) twice in its six-year history. Both games were played during the program’s infancy (2005 and 2006) and both resulted in shutout losses.

EKU, however, will look to reverse its fortunes against UK this year, as the Colonels return first team All-OVC forward Nicole Donnelly (six goals, three game-winners last year) and a defense that shut out eight teams in 2011.

All 24 players on EKU’s roster saw the field in the Colonels’ season-opening 5-0 loss to Louisville on Friday. Freshman Devon Saini led EKU with two shots, while freshman Stephany Ellison and sophomore Maggie Whitfield attempted the Colonels’ only two shots on goal.

UK opened its 2011 campaign with a 3-0 road win at Oakland. Senior Kelsey Hyundai scored the game-winner in that game, while freshman Molly Huber contributed with a goal and an assist.

Following Tuesday’s game, EKU will travel to face to Wright State on Friday at 5:00 p.m. before returning home on Sunday to face Miami (Ohio) at 1:00 p.m.
