RICHMOND, Ky.
– Almost 300 Colonel Club members, senior student-athletes and EKU coaches gathered on the concourse at Roy Kidd Stadium Thursday evening for the annual Colonel Club Fish Fry. Everyone was treated to fried catfish, pulled pork and a variety of side dishes to celebrate the beginning of the 2011-12 school year.

New Colonel Club President Ken Tippett gave a short speech before dinner, wished all EKU athletic teams a successful season and also asked for a moment of silence for Dick Perry, a former EKU football player and lifelong Colonel supporter, who passed away in December at the age of 74.

Meanwhile, longtime Colonel supporter Irish Rollings was honored with the Moberly/Spurlock Award which goes to the Colonel Club member who most personifies dedication and commitment of the award’s namesakes, two of the founding members of the Colonel Club - Harry Moberly, Sr. and George Spurlock.

Outgoing Colonel Club President Donna Haney was honored with a commemorative Colonel plate.
