Gameweek: The Lights Will Be On At Roy Kidd Stadium This Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University football team kicks off its home schedule Saturday with a night game against Missouri State. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m.

This is the 43rd consecutive year the Colonels have played their home games at Roy Kidd Stadium. EKU is 196-42-1 all-time at the facility, which opened in 1969. EKU is 8-3 in home openers since 2000 and went undefeated at home (5-0) just one year ago.

The biggest question mark facing Eastern Kentucky this week is the status of starting quarterback #T.J. Pryor#. Pryor was held out of the opening game due to a hand injury he suffered in a preseason scrimmage on Aug. 20. However, he is listed as probable for this week’s contest. True freshman Jared McClain took all of the snaps at quarterback against Kansas State.

Missouri State also played its opener without its starting quarterback. Trevor Wooden served a one-game suspension during the loss at Arkansas for an off-season violation of team rules. Wooden, who played wide receiver last year, is expected to start this weekend. Against Arkansas, 13 Missouri State players started for the first time in their collegiate careers – six on offense and seven on defense.

This concludes a home-and-home agreement that began last year at Missouri State. The 2010 season opener at MSU was postponed a day due to thunderstorms and tornadoes in the Springfield area. The last time EKU defeated a Missouri Valley Football Conference (formerly Gateway Conference) team was 2006 when Eastern edged Western Kentucky, 26-21.

--Eastern Kentucky’s offense was held to 129 total yards at Kansas State on Sept. 3, marking its lowest yardage output since Sept. 30, 2006 in a 28-0 loss to Jacksonville State (114 yards).
