RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team will look to salvage a split on its two-game road swing Saturday night at Morehead State. Tip time is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
***EKU Students will be able to purchase tickets to Saturday’s game at Morehead for $5 when they present a valid EKU Student ID.
The Colonels (10-8, 4-2 OVC) are 7-0 in Saturday games this season. However, the Colonels will need to bounce back after allowing a season-high 80 points in a loss to Austin Peay Thursday. Senior guard
Jaron Jones has shot at least 50 percent from the field in six straight games. The Lexington, Ky., native ranks sixth in the OVC in scoring (15.5 ppg) and third in field goal percentage (58.2).
Morehead State (8-10, 2-3) is on a two-game losing streak, but both of those losses came on the road. The Eagles are 4-2 at home this season and have won two straight in Johnson Arena. Morehead State will be playing without leading scorer Terrance Hill, who suffered a season-ending injury a couple of weeks ago. Ty Proffitt put up a team-high 19 points at Tennessee State Wednesday night.
The Colonels are 104-72 all-time against Morehead State and 6-8 versus the Eagles under head coach
Jeff Neubauer. Morehead State has won seven of the last nine meetings, but EKU ended Morehead State’s 24-game home winning streak last January with a 59-49 win.
