RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team starts a three-game road swing Saturday night at Tennessee State. Tip time is set for 8 p.m.
Eastern (12-10, 5-4 OVC) has lost three straight conference road games since opening the season with a win at Jacksonville State. Senior
Jaron Jones is the only Colonel averaging double figures (17.8 ppg) in OVC road contests and as a team, the Colonels are shooting just 28.9 percent from behind the arc in those contests.
Tennessee State (12-10, 5-4) has won four of its last five games overall following a 72-59 triumph at UT Martin Thursday night. The Tigers are 18-3 in the Gentry Center over the last two years and have won six straight home OVC contests dating back to last season. In conference games, TSU ranks second in rebounding margin (+5.7) while the Colonels rank last (-6.8).
The Colonels are 27-23 all-time against Tennessee State and 8-5 versus the Tigers under head coach
Jeff Neubauer. EKU has won five of the last six meetings against TSU, including a 73-68 victory over the Tigers on Dec. 31. The Colonels shot 53.2 percent (25-of-47) from the floor in that contest, their best mark in an OVC game this year.
