RICHMOND, Ky.
– The first-place Eastern Kentucky University soccer team will take its show on the road this weekend as the Colonels play at Ohio Valley Conference foes Southeast Missouri on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and UT Martin on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

EKU (7-4-2, 3-0-1 OVC) is fresh off a big weekend at home, during which the Colonels notched key conference victories over Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech.

EKU enters this weekend having won four of its last five games and as the lone OVC team still unbeaten in league play.

Junior Nikki Donnelly continues to lead the Colonel attack. The Cincinnati native was named the OVC Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after scoring the game-winning goal with 10 minutes remaining in regulation against JSU and assisting freshman Mikala Ferguson on the game-winner against TTU. Donnelly now has six goals and two assists on the fall. She leads the OVC with three game-winning goals.

The EKU backline has also been a key to the Colonels’ rise to the top of the OVC standings. Senior Deja Tennon, junior Lauren Fant and sophomores #Emily D’Italia and Paige Larkin# lead a Colonel defense that has not allowed multiple goals in 13 consecutive OVC regular season games.

SEMO (2-9-3, 1-3-1 OVC) tied UTM to open the conference season and then thrashed Murray State, 6-0; however, the Redhawks come into this weekend having lost three straight to Austin Peay, SIUE and Eastern Illinois. Courtney Luehmann and Torey Byrd lead the SEMO offense with two goals apiece.

UTM (6-5-3, 3-1-1 OVC), the defending OVC Tournament champion, had won three straight conference games before being shut out at SIUE last Sunday. Kendyl Wilson and Saph Coombs-James have scored five goals each for the Skyhawks.

EKU is 2-5-0 all-time against SEMO and has dropped two straight 1-0 contests to the Redhawks. EKU is 3-4-1 all-time against UT Martin. The Colonels defeated the Skyhawks during last year’s regular season, but UTM return the favor in the semifinals of the OVC Tournament.
