RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky’s women’s basketball team will look to end a two-game losing skid when rival Morehead State visits McBrayer Arena on Saturday.

The game features two teams trying to stay in the hunt for a top-4 seed in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament which begins later this month. At 11-12 overall and 6-6 in the OVC, the Lady Colonels sit in fifth place. Morehead State is 8-15 this season and with a 5-6 conference mark sits in sixth place.
EKU is coming off road losses at SIU Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois. Eastern stayed close through most of the game before falling, 64-51, to OVC leader EIU.
Raechele Gray led the Lady Colonels with 13 points.
The first time Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky met this season, the Lady Colonels were within a single point with 10 minutes left in the game before the Eagles used a 15-3 run to pull away for a 68-58 victory on Jan. 14. Freshman

Jade Barber each finished with 14 points for Eastern. Booth also had six rebounds and three assists. Courtney Lumpkin registered 27 points for Morehead State. Linda Dixon added 22 points.
MSU made seven three-pointers in 24 attempts (29.2 percent), while EKU hit on just 3-for-15 from deep. The Eagles shot 48 percent from the field in the second half and 41 percent for the game. Eastern connected on 45 percent in the second half and 36 percent for the game.
Saturday’s game is the 82nd meeting between the two rivals. Morehead State took a 41-40 lead in the series with its victory earlier this season in Morehead. MSU has won 10 of the last 11 games in the series. EKU is 22-16 against the Eagles in Richmond. Eight Lady Colonels have faced Morehead State, with four having played more than one game against the Eagles. Alex Jones has averaged 15 points and nine rebounds in five games against MSU.
After beating EKU on Jan. 14, Morehead State lost five straight. The Eagles snapped that streak with a 73-70 victory at SIU Edwardsville on Monday.
Morehead State is led by the guard duo of Lumpkin (15.7 ppg) and Dixon (15.1 ppg). Dixon has hit 60 three-pointers this season. On the inside, Ashar Harris averages 11 points and 13 rebounds. Only one other Eagle averages more than three rebounds and as a team MSU is getting out-rebounded by five.
Morehead State averages 63 points and allows 71 per game. MSU opponents have shot 46 percent from the field.
On Monday, Lumpkin had 32 points on 11-for-22 shooting. Dixon finished with 15 points. Harris had six points and 13 rebounds. MSU was 8-for-14 (57 percent) from behind the three-point arc, but shot 54 percent from the free throw line.
