RICHMOND, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University women’s soccer team will play a rare Wednesday night game this week at Xavier before returning home to host Transylvania on Friday afternoon at EKU Soccer Field.

EKU (3-3-1) is fresh off a resound, come-from-behind 3-1 win over College of Charleston on Sunday. Junior Nikki Donnelly delivered a pair of goals in that and the forward from Cincinnati now paces the Colonel offense with three goals and assist on the season. Sophomore Kaylnn Brown has also stepped up in the attack, as she has netted two goals in EKU’s last three games.

Donnelly, Brown and company will need to be on top of their game against a tough Xavier side on Wednesday night. The Musketeers have won three of their last four games, including a 2-1 win over EKU’s Ohio Valley Conference foe Morehead State on Sunday. Mariah Whitaker and Margaret Woods have both scored a pair of goals to lead the Xavier offense, while goalkeeper Katie Markesbery has record a pair of shutouts this fall.

EKU is 1-2 all-time against Xavier. The Colonels blanked the Musketeers, 1-0, in their home opener back in 2010.

Wednesday night’s affair gets underway at 7:00 p.m.

Transylvania (3-0-1) will come to Richmond riding high following a resounding 5-1 victory over Sewanee on Sunday. The Pioneers are led offensively by Amy Ghibaudy, who has three goals on the young season.

Friday’s game will get underway at 5:00 p.m. and is the first-ever matchup between the two schools.

Friday is also Kids Day at EKU Soccer Field. The event is free to all fans and is sponsored by Chick-fil-A of Richmond Centre as a part of the Junior Colonel Club events this 2012-13 season.
