MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team fell at in-state rival Morehead State, 4-0, on Friday night in the Colonels' regular season finale at Jayne Stadium.
With the loss, EKU drops out of contention for a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. The Colonels finish the 2013 campaign with a record of 5-12-2 (4-5-1 OVC). Morehead State improves to 8-11-1 (7-3-0 OVC).
"We are proud of our seven seniors and all they have done for this program over their careers," head coach
Melissa Barnes said. "They will be missed. Our team will continue to move forward in the offseason, working hard to improve and compete for the OVC Championship in 2014."
Morehead State jumped on the visiting Colonels early, as the Eagles' leading scorer Jade Flory scored twice in the first 20 minutes of play. Caity Fox added a goal in the 23rd minute to send Morehead State into the locker room at halftime with a comfortable 3-0 lead.
Flory then got the hat trick with a third goal in the second half – her 13th of the season. Flory's second-half goal sealed the convincing win for the Eagles.
