Jacksonville State Blows Past EKU, 68-10

The Colonels hope to bounce back next week on Senior Day when UT Martin visits Roy Kidd Stadium.

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Host Jacksonville State dominated in every facet of the game on the way to a 68-10 victory over the Eastern Kentucky University football team Saturday afternoon at Burgess-Snow Field.

The Gamecocks (8-2, 4-2 OVC) scored 11 out of the 14 times they touched the ball. Quarterback Eli Jenkins tallied 120 rushing yards and three touchdowns while running backs DaMarcus James and Troymaine Pope each scored twice.

Eastern (6-4, 4-2) turned the ball over a season-high four times which led to 17 Jacksonville State points. The Colonels also had a punt blocked and were held to a mere 1.9 yards per carry on 59 rushing attempts.

EKU's lone touchdown came on the opening drive of the second half. Junior quarterback Jared McClain scored on a two-yard bootleg to cap a 20-play drive.

Next week, Eastern Kentucky wraps up its home schedule on Nov. 16 against UT Martin. Game time is set for 1 p.m.

NOTES
--EKU had won three straight in the series against Jacksonville State before today's loss. The Colonels now hold a 6-5 edge in the all-time series.

--The Colonels fall to 0-4 this season when the opposition scores first.

--In its four losses, Eastern has turned the ball over 12 times. On the other hand, the Colonels have turned the ball over just seven times in their six wins.
