RICHMOND, Ky. – The Ohio Valley Conference's top-ranked defense will square off against its top-ranked offense when the Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team hosts Murray State in both teams' league opener on Monday night at McBrayer Arena.
Tip is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
EKU (6-5) enters conference play on a three-game winning streak, last defeating Longwood on the road, 60-47, on Dec. 18. The Lady Colonels lead the conference in scoring defense by a large margin, allowing only 62.8 points-per-game. The second-ranked team in the league, Eastern Illinois, allows 67.2 points-per-game.
Murray State (7-5), however, boasts the top offense in the OVC, as the Racers enter Monday night's showdown averaging 75.4 points-per-game.
Both teams feature one of the top scorers in the league, as EKU's
Marie Carpenter currently leads the OVC in scoring (21.7 points-per-game) while Murray State's Keiona Kirby ranks fifth (18.5 points-per-game).
EKU leads the all-time series with Murray State, 54-29. The Lady Colonels defeated the Racers twice last season, including in the first round of the OVC Tournament.

Following Monday's game, EKU continues OVC action on the road at SIUE on Jan. 4 and Eastern Illinois on Jan. 6.
