Colonels Looking To Rebound On Saturday At Longwood

FARMVILLE, Va. – After losing its last two games, the Eastern Kentucky men's basketball team will try to get back on track Saturday at Longwood.

EKU (6-3) had double digit leads in losses at North Carolina State and Virginia Commonwealth. The Colonels fell in overtime, 71-68, to the Rams on Thursday. Corey Walden led Eastern with 19 points. He also had a team-best eight rebounds, three steals and three assists. Glenn Cosey added 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Marcus Lewis finished with 15 points and three steals.

Cosey leads the team in scoring (18.8 ppg) and is second in rebounding (4.7 rpg). Walden leads the team in rebounding (4.9 rpg) and is third in scoring (12.4 ppg).

Longwood is 3-6 after a 95-80 victory on Wednesday at home against West Virginia Tech. That win snapped a five-game losing streak. Two of the team's three wins were against non-Division I teams, but the Lancers first victory came at Big 12 member Texas Christian University.

Tristan Carey scored a game-best 27 points against West Virginia Tech. Karl Ziegler had 23 points and 15 rebounds, including six off the offensive glass. Lucas Woodhouse added 11 points and 13 assists. The Lancers shot 50 percent from the field and made 21-of-26 at the free throw line.

Carey is a 6-foot-4 senior guard and leads the team in scoring at 19 points a night. He also averages six rebounds a game. Ziegler, 6-foot-5 sophomore forward, contributes 13 points and a team-best seven boards per game.

Longwood has been out-rebounded by 6.7 boards per game this season. Eastern has been out-rebounded by five per game. The Lancers have been out-scored at the free throw line by 29 points this season.

Eastern Kentucky allows just six 3-pointers per game, but VCU knocked down 13 from long range on Thursday. Longwood has allowed seven three-pointers per game. EKU averages nine.

EKU leads the all-time series 1-0. The Colonels beat the Lancers 78-71 on Jan. 22, 2012 in Richmond.
