RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky’s men’s basketball team will play its final regular season home game on Wednesday against Austin Peay.

With its win over Jacksonville State, EKU (21-6, 10-3 OVC) set a new program record for wins during the regular season (21).  The previous best was 20 in 2009-10.  The single season record for wins is 22 (2004-05).  Eastern also clinched a top-4 seed in the OVC Tournament with its win over JSU.

Tarius Johnson recorded his first double-double as a Colonel against Jacksonville State, finishing with 15 points and a season-best 11 rebounds.  The junior also had a season-high five assists.  Corey Walden finished with 19 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.

The Colonels have moved to first place in the OVC in scoring defense.  EKU is allowing 64.1 points per game.  On the offensive end, Eastern Kentucky has scored 80 or more points in four of its last five games.

Before going on the road and picking up a pair of wins, Austin Peay had lost eight straight.  The Governors are 7-20 overall and 3-10 OVC play.  As a team the Governors score 71 points per game and allow 75 points per contest.  Austin Peay shoots 46 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range.

APSU is led by one of the top newcomers in the conference, junior college transfer Travis Betran.  The 6-foot-3 guard is averaging 17 points, fourth best in the league.  Anthony Campbell, a 6-foot-7 forward, contributes 15 points and five rebounds per contest.

On Saturday at SIU Edwardsville, Austin Peay shot 57 percent from the field and 47 percent from 3-point range in an 83-71 win.  The Governors out-rebounded SIUE by 18, but turned it over nine more times.  Campbell had 21 points and seven rebounds.  Betran finished with 17 points.  Horton had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Austin Peay leads the all-time series 60-48, but the Colonels are 27-22 in games played in Richmond.
