MOBILE, Ala. – Eastern Kentucky’s women’s golf team opened its spring schedule by placing eighth at the 11th Annual USA Women’s Invitational hosted by South Alabama.
With a two-round total of 641, EKU finished five shots behind seventh place Jacksonville State (636) and 14 shots in front of ninth place Alabama-Birmingham (655). Louisiana-Monroe (616) captured the title by one shot over South Alabama (617).
The event was contested at the par-72, 6,071-yard Azalea City Golf Club.
Freshmen
Anna Gleixner and
Becky Sharpe led the Colonels. Both finished with 36-hole totals of 159. Gleixner shot rounds of 77 and 82. Sharpe carded rounds of 80 and 79. The duo tied for 21st overall.
Senior
April Emerson (160) tied for 27th.
The Colonels will return to action on March 4 at the Time Warner Racer Classic hosted by Murray State.
