CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Host Austin Peay won the top four singles matches on the way to a 5-2 win over the Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team Saturday afternoon. This was the Ohio Valley Conference opener for both teams.
EKU’s (5-11, 0-1 OVC) lone points came from junior
Joao Maio (No. 5) and freshman
Florian Graskamp (No. 6). The Govs (7-2, 1-0) clinched the team victory with a tight 7-5, 7-6 win at No. 2 singles.
“I have a strange feeling we will see Austin Peay again,” EKU head coach
Rob Oertel said. “I give them a lot of credit for playing like veterans today. Hopefully, we can use this loss for incentive in the future.”
The Colonels are right back in action tomorrow, March 17 at OVC foe Murray State.
