RICHMOND, Ky. – Visiting Ohio scored four times in the second half to break a 1-1 tie and defeat the Eastern Kentucky University soccer team Sunday afternoon.
The Bobcats (1-2-1) picked up their first win of the season while the Colonels (0-4-0) are still looking for their first 'W.'
Senior
Kristan Paynter gave EKU the lead less than 10 minutes into the contest. Fellow senior
Katie Collar sent a perfect pass through the defense to give Paynter a one-on-one situation in front of the Ohio keeper. From there, Paynter easily beat the keeper for her first goal of the season.
Midway through the first, the Bobcats responded by converting a two-on-one play at the top of the box. Mollie Whitacre found the back of the net on an assist from Holly Harris to even the score.
The score stayed tied until seven minutes into the second half. Ohio's Carly Manso scored what proved to be the game-winner from about 10 yards out.
Alexis Milesky and Maggie Murnane also scored for the Bobcats following the intermission as Ohio outshot Eastern in the final 45 minutes, 7-1.
Eastern Kentucky is back in action this Friday, Sept. 6 with a home match against Xavier at 5 p.m.
