The Colonels (12-6, 3-2 OVC) have faced three straight unbeaten OVC teams, winning the last two and giving Morehead State and Belmont their first league losses of the season.

Eastern Kentucky used a 13-0 run midway through the second half to pull away from Belmont and hand the visiting Bruins their first conference loss, 74-63, on Thursday. Corey Walden led four Colonels in double figures with 18 points. He also added four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

By holding Belmont, the league's second ranked scoring team, to 63 points, Eastern moved back into first place in the OVC in scoring defense (69.1 ppg). Jacksonville State (9-12, 3-3 OVC) is third in the conference, allowing just 69.5 points per game. After allowing its first three OVC opponents to average 81 points per game, the Colonels have held their last two league foes to 64 points per game.

Glenn Cosey leads Eastern Kentucky, and ranks third in the conference, in scoring at 18.7 points per game. Walden has raised his average to 13.7 points after contributing 20.3 points, 3.3 steals, 3.3 rebounds and three assists over the previous three games. The junior needs only 11 points to reach 1,000 for his career. He scored his first 289 points his freshman season at Stetson.

Eastern has the second-best turnover margin in the nation (+7.3). EKU's opponents average 17.4 turnovers. JSU averages only 10.6 turnovers per game.

Darion Rackley, a 6-foot-3 junior guard, leads Jacksonville State with an average of 12.7 points per game. Brian Williams, a 6-foot-1 senior guard, averages 11.1 points and a team-best 3.7 points.

The Gamecocks have hit only 42.8 percent of their shots from the field this season and 33.2 percent from three-point range.
