RICHMOND, Ky.
– Jacksonville State scored a pair of second-half goals to come from behind and defeat the Eastern Kentucky University soccer team, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at EKU Soccer Field.

EKU (3-9-1, 1-2-1 OVC) took an early lead when sophomore Cassie Smith scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season off a cross from freshman Logan Harvey in the third minute. It was Harvey's first-career assist.

The Colonels held on to the lead until the 62nd minute when Jackie Rush lofted a cross to Kelsey Bright, who headed in the equalizer past a drawn-out Anna Hall.

Seven minutes later, EKU fouled inside the box and Courtney Hurt converted the penalty kick to give the visiting Gamecocks a lead they would not relinquish.

Jacksonville State (6-7-0, 2-2-0 OVC) outshot EKU, 13-11, on the day.

Smith, Harvey and junior Katie Bright all attempted two shots on the day to pace the EKU attack.

Hall played all 90 minutes in net for EKU and made five saves.

Bright and junior Mikala Ferguson also went the distance for the Colonels.

EKU hits the road next weekend, visiting UT Martin on Friday at 8:00 p.m. and Murray State on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
