One of those returners, 6-foot-3 guard Trey Kennedy, was the first freshman to lead the Thunderbirds in scoring since the school became a NCAA Division I member in 1988.  Kennedy contributed 9.5 points per game last season and is averaging 6.7 points through three games this year.  A.J. Hess, a 6-foot-6 junior guard, leads the team in scoring this season at 14 points per contest.
