RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky forced visiting Chattanooga into a season-high 24 turnovers to help propel the Colonels to a 74-63 win Tuesday night.

With the win, Eastern (17-7) set a new program record by notching its 22nd consecutive home non-conference victory. Chattanooga (15-10) entered the game atop the Southern Conference standings with a 9-1 league mark.

Senior Glenn Cosey led four Colonels in double figures with 19 points. Junior Corey Walden added 16 points and four steals. Seniors Marcus Lewis (13 points) and Orlando Williams (10) rounded out the balanced attack.

Z. Mason led the Mocs with his 12th double-double of the season – 23 points and 12 rebounds.

The first half featured eight ties and nine lead changes. However, Eastern racked up the final seven points, capped by a Walden steal and breakaway dunk, to take a 42-36 lead into intermission. Both teams shot 50 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes.

EKU stepped up the defense in the second half, forcing 15 turnovers and limiting Chattanooga to only 11 field goal attempts. The Colonels never trailed after halftime and built a game-high 14-point cushion, 67-53, following a Cosey free throw with 5:05 left in the contest.

The Mocs made one final charge to cut the deficit to seven points with two minutes remaining, but would get no closer.

Eastern's home non-conference winning streak dates back to November 2010.

This was the first ever meeting between the two teams in Richmond. The Colonels won last year's match-up in Chattanooga, 63-52.

Eastern Kentucky concludes its four-game home swing this Saturday, Feb. 8 against OVC rival Morehead State. The game is slated to be televised by ESPNU beginning at 11 a.m.
