Soccer Opens Ohio Road Trip with Loss to Cleveland State

CLEVELAND, Ohio –
The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team opened its weekend road trip through Ohio with a 4-0 loss to Cleveland State on Friday night.
 
Vicki Havas put the Vikings (5-4-1) on the board early, scoring off an assist from Kelsey Fischer in the sixth minute. In the 34th minute, Havas was at it again, scoring off a ball from Chloe Fadenholz. Less than two minutes before halftime, CSU struck again, this time with a goal from Erin O'Toole that made it 3-0 at the break.
 
Sarak Kaiser scored off a header less than five minutes into the second half to seal the victory for the hosts.
 
EKU (2-6-0) was outshot in the road loss, 13-7.
 
Junior Katie Bright paced the Colonel offense with two shots, one of which was on goal. Junior Dani Cant and freshman Emma Werner also put shots on frame during the game.
 
Junior Merrissa Vault played all 90 minutes on the Colonel backline.
 
EKU returns to action on Sunday at Kent State. First touch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
