RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU women's basketball team will host Western Carolina University in its home opener Saturday at McBrayer Arena.
The Colonels (0-1, 0-0 OVC) are coming off an 81-62 loss Sunday at the University of Richmond in their season opener.
Shameekia "Polly" Murray netted a team-high 19 points, as
Michaela Hunter (17) and
Jalen O'Bannon (11) also scored in double-digits for the Colonels.
Eastern Kentucky shot 36 percent on 22-of-61 from the floor Sunday, while Richmond connected on 58 percent of its shots.
Western Carolina (2-1, 0-0 SoCon) enters McBrayer Arena following a 66-59 loss to Bethune Cookman Wednesday. The loss marked the first of the season for the Catamounts after topping Brevard College and Anderson (S.C.) in their first two games.
The Catamounts are shooting 42 percent from the field thus far this season. Raziyah Farrington leads Western Carolina with 11.7 points-per-game.
Murray and Hunter were named Preseason All-OVC after combining for more than 28 points-per-game last season.
