RICHMOND, Ky. – Four of the six Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis players won their matches in straight sets as the Colonels earned a 6-1 victory over Northern Kentucky Friday afternoon in the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
 
"Since we have gotten to full strength, our depth has really shown through," EKU head coach Rob Oertel said.
 
The Colonels (5-3) easily won the bottom three singles matches in straight sets. Freshman Ramon van Flymen, who notched his sixth straight singles victory, also won in straight sets at No. 2 singles. Meanwhile, junior Alex Álvaro rallied to take the top singles match in a third set tiebreaker.
 
Eastern Kentucky wraps up its indoor portion of the 2015 schedule Sunday, March 1 with a home match against Samford. Match time is set for 9 a.m.
