EKU Looks to Bounce Back at UT Martin, SEMO

RICHMOND, Ky. –  The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team will look to get back on track with matches at UT Martin and Southeast Missouri this weekend.

- The Colonels will play at UT Martin on Friday at 8:00 p.m. and at SEMO on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

- EKU's (8-4-0, 3-2-0 OVC) program-best winning streak was snapped when Austin Peay scored in the 88th minute to steal the match, 1-0, last Thursday night.  
 
- The Colonels played a statistically even match with the Govs, but the late goal was enough for APSU to secure the win. Junior Jordan Foster led the effort for EKU with four shots, two of which were on goal.
 
- Eastern lost to defending OVC champion Murray State on Sunday, 3-0. Foster notched two shots, including one on frame in the loss.
 
- Foster and Senior Cassie Smith are tied for the team lead this season with four goals. Junior Emmi Carroll is right behind them with three goals on the year. Freshman Kayla Childs, sophomore Tara Claus and freshman Erin Torrence each have two goals on the season.
 
- Junior Anna Hall is ranked eleventh nationally and tied for first in the OVC with seven shutouts this season.
 
- The Colonels currently sit in fifth place in the OVC.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
 
- UT Martin (4-10-0, 1-5-0 OVC) is led by Amy McGivern and Saphyra Coombs-James, who have four goals each this year.  
 
- The Skyhawks are in last place in the OVC, with their lone conference win coming at Jacksonville State last weekend.
 
- EKU trails the all-time series, 4-7-1, but won last year's match in Richmond, 2-0, thanks to two second-half goals by Carroll.
 
- Southeast Missouri's (7-4-4, 1-2-3 OVC) leading scorer is Natasha Minor, who has an OVC-best 10 goals on the year.
 
- The Redhawks are ranked seventh in the OVC after beating Eastern Illinois and tying Murray State, Austin Peay, and Belmont.
 
- EKU trails the all-time series, 2-8-1. The last Colonel victory came during the 2009 season when Eastern prevailed in Richmond, 1-0.

The Colonels return to Richmond to host Eastern Illinois on Friday, Oct. 21 at 3:00 p.m., and SIUE on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 1:00 p.m. Senior Day will be held before Sunday's match.
