CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.
– Junior Jordan Foster's golden goal six minutes into overtime lifted the Eastern Kentucky University soccer team over host Southeast Missouri, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Houck Stadium.

It was EKU's first overtime game of the season, and it gave the Colonels a weekend Ohio Valley Conference road sweep. Eastern defeated UT Martin, 4-2, on Friday night in Martin.

The win also means EKU has matched the single-season program record for wins (10) held by the 2012 squad.

"Road trips in the OVC are tough, and they really show what your team is made of," first-year head coach Nick Flohre said. "We were challenged in both games this weekend and played poorly to start both, but showed we have the grit and determination to come back. Our staff is extremely proud of how the players responded, especially today. The girls were awesome!"

After trailing for the majority of the afternoon, EKU staged a furious rally to pull off the crucial victory. The Colonels evened the match up in the 85th minute on a goal from freshman Erin Torrence. The Hudson, Ohio native headed in a corner kick from junior Logan Harvey for her third goal of the season.

In overtime, Foster took possession of the ball and drove down the pitch, stopping 15 yards away from the goal and firing a shot from the left side over SEMO goalkeeper Kindra Lierz. The goal is Foster's seventh of the year, tying the single-season program record held by Nikki Donnelly (2012) and current teammate Cassie Smith (2014).

SEMO scored off a header from Lauren Kaempfe in the fourth minute, but could not find the back of the net the rest of the way, despite a 17-to-8 shot advantage which included nine shots on goal.

Junior Anna Hall and the Colonel backline held tight after giving up the early goal. Hall made seven saves on the day, and sophomore center back Kacy Eckley played 90 of the 96 minutes for Eastern.

The Colonels return home on Friday to kick off Homecoming weekend with a match against Eastern Illinois. First touch is set for 3 p.m. at EKU Soccer Field.
