BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University sophomore
Charlotte Imer has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Cross Country Runner of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Imer finished fourth out of 261 competitors at the loaded Vanderbilt Commodore Classic on Saturday at Percy Warner Park in Nashville. The native of Melbourne, Australia posted a time of 17:05.4, which is the fastest cross country 5K time of her career.
Imer – a 2015 NCAA All-Southeast Region performer – led the EKU women to an eighth-place finish out of 25 teams at the meet, including wins over regionally-ranked squads such as Lipscomb (No. 7 in the South), Georgia (No. 10 in the South), Auburn (No. 4 in the South), Middle Tennessee State (No. 9 in the South) and UAB (No. 12 in the South).
The Colonels were also the highest finisher out of seven OVC schools at the meet.
This is the third time Imer has been named OVC Cross Country Runner of the Week. She received the honor two times as a freshman last fall.
Tennessee Tech's Gilbert Boit was named OVC Male Runner of the Week.
Imer and the EKU women return to action at the Greater Louisville Classic on October 1.
