RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team notched a program-best seventh consecutive win with a 3-0 victory over Jacksonville State in Ohio Valley Conference play on Sunday afternoon at EKU Soccer Field.

EKU (7-2-0, 2-0-0) dominated the match from the opening whistle. The Colonels outshot the Gamecocks, 21-2, and attempted nine shots on goal, compared to JSU's one.

Eastern has now shut out six of its last seven opponents.

"Today was a very good team performance," first-year head coach
Nick Flohre said. "The players worked together and stuck to our game plan to take away Jacksonville State's athleticism. It's always tough getting through Sunday games because of the fatigue from Friday, but the players really showed that they'll do what they need to do to help the team win."

The Colonels drew first blood in the 40
th minute when sophomore
Bailly Bounds netted her first goal of the season. Bounds rebounded a shot in front of the goal and planted the ball into the top left corner of the goal.

The Colonels added to their lead in the 50
th minute when sophomore
Tara Claus took a pass from junior
Jordan Foster and launched the ball into the top left corner of the goal. Claus now has two goals on the season, and Foster notched her second assist of the season on the play.

Freshman
Kayla Childs added an insurance goal in the 64
th minute after taking a cross from junior
Logan Harvey and sending the ball past JSU goalkeeper Caroline Robinson. It was the first goal of Childs' career, and it gave Harvey a team best three assists on the season.

Reigning OVC Goalkeeper of the Week
Anna Hall continued her dominance in the net, recording her sixth shutout of the year. The Ross, Ohio native has not surrendered a goal in over 370 minutes of game action, and she is closing in on the EKU Â single-season shutout record of eight held by Stephanie Lynch during the 2008 season.

Sophomore center backs
Haley Kemper and
Kacy Eckley played all 90 minutes for EKU in the shutout.

"Now our attention shifts to recovering as quickly as possible and preparing for a dangerous Morehead State team," Flohre added.

The Colonels return to action at home on Thursday, September 29 against in-state rival Morehead State. First touch is set for 4:00 p.m. at EKU Soccer Field.
