EKU Looks to Keep Rolling Against Morehead State Thursday

RICHMOND, Ky. – Head coach Nick Flohre and the first-place Eastern Kentucky University soccer team will look to continue its program-record winning streak against in-state rival Morehead State on Thursday at EKU Soccer Field. First touch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

- EKU currently sits atop the OVC standings with a record of 7-2-0 (2-0-0 OVC). The Colonels also have the best RPI ranking of any OVC school at No. 87. The closest OVC school, Austin Peay, comes in at No. 173.
 
- Eastern extended its win streak to seven with a 1-0 win at Belmont on Friday, and a 3-0 win against Jacksonville State on Sunday in Richmond.
 
- EKU took control of the Belmont match in the 77th minute when junior Jordan Foster redirected a header from sophomore Bailly Bounds to score the decisive goal.
 
- The Colonels dominated JSU on Sunday thanks to goals from Bounds, sophomore Tara Claus and freshman Kayla Childs. Eastern outshot the Gamecocks 21-2, including a 9-1 shots on goal advantage.
 
- Foster was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week, and leads the Colonels with four goals on the season. Senior Cassie Smith, junior Emmi Carroll, freshman Erin Torrence, and Claus each have two goals. Junior Logan Harvey has posted a team-high three assists.
 
- Junior Anna Hall notched her fifth and sixth shutouts over the weekend. Hall ranks second all-time at EKU with 11 career shutouts, and her six shutouts this season rank ninth nationally. Hall was named OVC Goalkeeper of the Week for the third time this fall on Tuesday. No EKU goalkeeper had won the award more than twice in a season before Hall.
 
- The Colonels have outscored their opponents 13-2 during the seven-game winning streak. The last time an opponent scored at EKU Soccer Field was in the home opener against Xavier on August 21.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
- Morehead State's (3-7-1, 0-2-0 OVC) leading scorer is Ashley Ritchie who has four goals on the year.  
 
- The Eagles have wins over Bowling Green, Evansville and Western Carolina this season.
 
- EKU trails the all-time series with Morehead State, 2-8-2. The last Eastern win came in 2012 when the Colonels defeated the Eagles, 2-1, in overtime at EKU Soccer Field.
