Box Score (PDF)

MARTIN, Tenn.
 – After going 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the final 31 seconds, the University of Tennessee at Martin held on for a 66-56 win over the visiting EKU women's basketball team Saturday at the Elam Center.

The Colonels (8-15, 5-5 Ohio Valley Conference) trailed by 11 in the opening minutes of the final frame, before cutting into the Skyhawk lead. EKU used a 13-4 run in the fourth, trimming the lead to two on a jumper from senior guard Mariah Massengill with 1:51 on the clock.

EKU limited UTM to one field goal on its final nine attempts.

UT Martin responded, scoring five unanswered in 14 seconds to widen the lead back to seven. However, the Colonels were not ready to give up.

Down 60-53, Massengill netted one from deep to cut the lead back to four with 31 seconds left to play, but the Skyhawks' accuracy from the line proved to be the difference.

UTM (7-17, 4-7 OVC) connected on 20-of-24 from the free throw line in the contest. Meanwhile, EKU went 0-for-1—marking the fewest free throw attempts in a single game for the Colonels dating back to the 1978-79 season.

The team statistics were near mirror images in a contest that saw five ties and 17 lead changes. The Colonels shot 38.5 percent (25-of-65) from the floor, while UTM shot 37.9 percent (22-of-58).  Eastern Kentucky won the rebounding battle 41-38.

Seniors Jalen O'Bannon and Alexus Cooper both finished with 12 points for EKU. Junior Madison Wood also finished with double figures, netting 10 points.

Eastern finishes the two-game road swing at Murray State University on Monday. Monday's tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
