STATESBORO, Ga. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team is gearing up to head south for the weekend for a five game swing at the Eagle Classic hosted by Georgia Southern.

The Colonels will open play on Friday at 3:30 p.m. against Delaware State University and then turn around and play the home team directly after at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday will also include back-to-back games for Eastern against Marshall University and South Carolina State beginning at 11:30 a.m. But, Sunday will only hold a lone game against Presbyterian College to wrap up play, also slated to start at 11:30 a.m.

This will be the third weekend in a row on the road for EKU (3-7). Most recently the Colonels were in Rock Hill, South Carolina at the Winthrop/Adidas Tournament where they won 3-of-5, picking up wins over North Carolina Central, Mount St. Mary's and Youngstown State.

AT THE PLATE

-Sophomore first baseman
Rachel Minogue is leading the Colonels offensively, posting a .444 batting average. Over 27 times at the dish the Corona, California native has notched 12 hits (including two doubles and two home runs), five runs and 10 RBIs.
-Lefty
Mia Sanchez follows Minogue closely with a .364 batting average. The freshman has seen the plate 33 times, marking eight runs, 12 hits and one double.

IN THE CIRCLE

-Centerville, Ohio native
Mollie Paulick is displaying a tough 1.10 earned run average. Over the 32 and two-thirds innings the right-hander has pitched, she has struck out 38 batters and has only given up four earned runs.
-Senior
Alex Sallberg is also hurling a low 2.37 ERA. The veteran has pitched 19 innings and struck out 16 batters.

-Delaware State begins the weekend 0-4, Georgia Southern is 7-7, Marshall stands at 9-4, South Carolina State at 0-13 is still looking for its first win and Presbyterian rolls in at 5-9.
