RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team is gearing up to open Ohio Valley Conference play at Austin Peay and Murray State.
The Colonels will face the Governors of Austin Peay in a doubleheader on Sunday in Clarksville. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. Game two is scheduled to begin around 3 p.m.
EKU will then play a twinbill at Murray State on Monday beginning at 12:00 p.m.

After postponing the home opener game against Kentucky this week, the games at Austin Peay and Murray State will start a new, seven-game road swing for EKU.

The Colonels (11-16) come into this weekend having won four of their last six games.

AT THE PLATE

Rachel Minogue continues to lead the Colonels at the dish with a .468 batting average, which is good enough for 22
nd best in the nation. The sophomore has recorded 37 hits, nine doubles and three-round trippers while generating 23 runs batted in and 19 runs. The Corona, California native also leads the team and is tied for 22
nd in the country in on-base percentage at .545.

Mia Sanchez has the second-best batting average for EKU with a .368. Sanchez has tallied 32 hits, 22 runs, two doubles and 11 walks. Â

Mollie Paulick leads the pitching staff with a 1.43 earned run average. The Centerville, Ohio native has struck out 58 batters.

THE OPPONENTS
- The Govs come into the weekend with a 10-14 mark. They were on a five game losing skid before completing a twin-bill kill of Samford on Wednesday.

- Carly Mattson leads APSU in the batter's box with a .394 batting average, complimented by seven home runs.

- Autumn Hanners is leading the charge from the rubber, tossing a 4.61 ERA. Hanners has thrown 54.2 innings, giving up 76 hits and 55 runs.
- Murray State currently sits at 23-8. The Racers, however, have lost four straight games.
- Jessica Twaddle paces Murray State with a .394 batting average and seven home runs.
