Basketball Teams Back Home Thursday Night, Games To Air Live On WYMT'S HEROES & ICONS CHANNEL

RICHMOND, Ky. – The men's and women's basketball teams begin a two-game home stand on Thursday against Tennessee Tech.  Both games will air live on WYMT's Heroes & Icons channel (57.2).
 
The women's game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.  The men's game will tip-off at 8 p.m.

The Colonels (5-10, 2-4 OVC) turned the ball over 35 times in a 69-55 loss at Southeast Missouri on Saturday.
 
Abby Wright made 7-of-10 from the field and finished with 18 points and eight rebounds at SEMO.
 
Eastern Kentucky out-rebounded Southeast Missouri, 31-25, and shot 81.3 percent from the free throw line (13-for-16), its best percentage since the third game of the season.
 
A'Queen Hayes is fifth in the OVC in rebounding (8.1 rpg), eighth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.2), ninth in scoring (14.7 ppg), ninth in assists (3.5 apg), second in minutes played (35.4/g), second in offensive rebounds (3.6/g) and ninth in defensive rebounds (4.5/g).
 
Wright is 11th in the OVC in scoring (13.7 ppg), tied for third in free throw shooting (81.8 percent), 10th in three-point shooting percentage (36.1 percent), 12th in three-pointers made (1.6/g), 15th in offensive rebounds (2.1/g) and 22nd in minutes played (30.6/g).
 
Eastern Kentucky held TTU to just five made field goal attempts and scored 20 points off forced turnovers in the first half en route to a 76-68 win over the Golden Eagles on Dec. 30 in Cookeville.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Coming off a win Thursday over Austin Peay, Tennessee Tech (4-13, 1-5 OVC) fell to visiting Murray State, 72-63, on Saturday.  MacKenzie Coleman recorded her second career double-double with 10 boards and a career-high 20 points.  She blocked five shots and now has 30 through 17 games.
 
Senior guard Yaktavia Hickson leads TTU in scoring (10.9 ppg) and rebounding (5.4 rpg).  However, four Golden Eagles average between 10.5 and 10.9 points per game.
 
Tennessee Tech leads the all-time series 66-27, but EKU has won two straight over the Golden Eagles, including a 76-68 victory on Dec. 30 in Cookeville.
 
UP NEXT
After facing Tennessee Tech on Thursday, EKU will host Jacksonville State at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

 EKU (8-11, 2-4 OVC) picked up two big road wins last weekend, defeating UT Martin, 78-70, on Thursday and Southeast Missouri, 91-86, on Saturday.
 
Junior Jackson Davis (18) and sophomore Dujuanta Weaver (15) both scored career highs to lead EKU over SEMO on Saturday.
 
DeAndre Dishman scored 11 of EKU's final 22 points to will EKU to victory down the stretch at SEMO.
 
Dedric Boyd was voted the OVC Freshman of the Week on Monday. He averaged 20.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals-per-game in the Colonels' two road victories.
 
EKU shot a season-best 95.5 percent (21-of-22) from the free throw line in the win over SEMO. The Colonels now rank second in the OVC in free throw percentage (75.8).
 
EKU drained a season-high 12 three-pointers in the win over Southeast Missouri on Saturday.
 
Freshman A.J. Youngman connected on two three-pointers at SEMO and now ranks third in the OVC in three-point field goal percentage (43.8).
 
EKU has now won the turnover battle in its last nine games, and the Colonels have risen to fourth in the OVC in the turnover margin (+1.0).
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 Tennessee Tech (12-7, 4-2 OVC) split last weekend, defeating Austin Peay, 86-74, on Thursday before falling to Murray State, 71-45, on Saturday.
 
Curtis Phillips and Aleksa Jugovic both average 14.0 points-per-game for the Golden Eagles.
 
This is the 136th all-time meeting between EKU and Tennessee Tech. The Colonels lead the series, 74-61; however, the Golden Eagles won earlier this season in Cookeville, 77-69.
