Women's Basketball Makes Third Trip To Ohio, This Time To Take On Akron

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern's women's basketball team travels to Ohio for the third time this season on Saturday.  This time the Colonels will take on the Zips of Akron.
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. The game will air live on ESPN3.
 
EKU has already played at Miami (Ohio) and Ohio University this season.  The game will conclude a stretch of six straight away from home.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Akron leads the all-time series 6-5.
 
-  Akron won last year 62-45.
 
-  EKU has lost six straight contest against the Zips.
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky (0-6) came up short on the road against MAC foe Western Michigan, 64-53, on Wednesday.
 
Shay Solomon led the way offensively for the Colonels with a career-high 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
 
Abby Wright pitched in 16 points and six rebounds of her own.
 
-  Catie Kaifes had a career-best seven rebounds against Western Michigan.
 
-  EKU ranks 6th in the conference in three-point field goal defense.
 
- Teri Goodlett and Shay Solomon lead the team with 3.0 assists per game.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Akron (3-1) lost its first game of the year Wednesday against Youngstown State, 72-61.
 
-  The Zips are led by Megan Sefcik, who is averaging a team-best 17.5 points per game.
 
-  Akron is averaging 68 points per game on the year.
 
-  Akron ranks 33rd in the country in three-point field goal percentage.
 
-  The Zips average 4.5 blocks per game as a team.  
                          
-  Shaunay Edmonds leads the team with 5.0 assists per game.

Eastern Kentucky returns home for the first time in a month when the Colonels welcome Kentucky Christian University to Richmond on Wednesday.
