BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University junior guard
Kelvin Robinson has been voted the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for men's basketball, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Robinson nearly had a double-double in EKU's overtime loss at Duquesne on Saturday in Pittsburgh. The 6-2 guard from Little Rock, Arkansas scored a season-high 14 points and dished out nine assists in the 85-84 defeat. He also grabbed five rebounds and came up with two steals.
Robinson currently ranks fifth in the OVC in assists-per-game (4.0) and sixth in assist/turnover ratio (1.8).
He is also averaging 7.2 points and 3.8 rebounds-per-game.
This is the first career OVC Newcomer of the Week honor for Robinson, who transferred to EKU following a season at Northwest Florida State College.
Robinson and the Colonels return home to host Brescia on Saturday, December 29, at 6 p.m.
