Ryland Kerr is one of 53 NCAA Division I baseball players on the 2018 Brooks Wallace Award Watch list, the College Baseball Foundation recently announced.

The award, sponsored by Mizuno, honors the nation's top shortstop and will be presented this summer by the College Baseball Foundation. It is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977 to 1980. Wallace died of leukemia at the age of 27.

Kerr is hitting .347 with four home runs, 26 RBIs and 41 runs scored. He also has 17 doubles and two triples. The Bellevue, Washington native carries a .538 slugging percentage and has six stolen bases.

Kerr ranks fifth in the conference and 30th in the nation with 60 hits. He is fourth in the OVC and ninth in the country in doubles. Kerr is 11th in the league and 52nd nationally in runs scored. He is 10th in the conference and 60th in Division I baseball with 93 total bases.

EKU has won four of its six Ohio Valley Conference series this season. The Colonels (21-20, 12-6 OVC) have swept three conference teams for the first time since 2012.
