RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team will open its home schedule this weekend by hosting Ball State on Friday at 4 p.m. and IUPUI on Sunday at 1 p.m.

- EKU (1-1) came from behind to defeat East Tennessee State, 3-1, on Tuesday night in Johnson City.

Idalys Rea all scored for the Colonels in the win.
- Torrence is off to a torrid start for the Colonels. It is early, but the junior leads EKU and is tied for the OVC lead with five points (two goals, one assist).
- Defenders Eckley and
Katie Shaffer played all 90 minutes in the win on EKU's backline.
- Freshman goalkeeper
Zoe Aguirre played the second half of Tuesday's win and held ETSU scoreless.Â

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
- Ball State (1-0) defeated IPFW, 2-1, in its season opener on the road on August 17.
- The Cardinals defeated the Colonels, 3-1, in the 2016 season opener. That is the only previous meeting between the two programs.
- IUPUI (1-1) beat Marian to open the season on August 17, but then fell at Butler, 2-0, on August 17.
- EKU leads the all-time series with IUPUI, 1-0. The Colonels defeated the Jaguars, 3-2, last season in Indianapolis.
Sarah Owusu scored her first career goal in that win, while
Monica Rios and
Idalys Rea both recorded assists.Â
