Erin Torrence's equalizer in the 89
th minute sent the Eastern Kentucky University soccer team to a 1-1 draw at Southeast Missouri on Thursday night at Houck Field.
Esmie Gonzales gave SEMO (2-7-1, 0-3-1 OVC) a 1-0 lead when she scored in the 31
st minute.
The Redhawks held that lead until there was less than two minutes remaining in regulation. In the 89

Katie Shaffer, who attempted to head a shot in. SEMO keeper Bailey Redden blocked that shot, but right to freshman
Sarah Owusu, who flicked the ball back to a wide-open Torrence in front of the goal.
"We're proud of the girls' fight tonight," head coach
Nick Flohre said. "We struggled to get into a rhythm early, and it cost us. The girls kept battling, though, and got the goal back in the second half. This was a well-fought game by both teams and a game we can build on going into Tuesday."
It was Torrence's team-leading fourth goal of the season, and Owusu's second assist on the year.
In 2016, Torrence, then a freshman, scored a late equalizer at SEMO, heading in a shot in the 86
th minute to send the game into overtime.
EKU (4-5-2, 0-1-2 OVC) outshot SEMO, 17-13, on the night, and the Colonels attempted more corner kicks by a margin of 7-6.
Torrence paced the Colonels with three shots in the game.
Freshman goalkeeper
Zoe Aguirre played all 110 minutes of the match and made six saves.
EKU will now host in-state rival Morehead State next Tuesday, October 2, at 4 p.m.
