BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.
– The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team dropped a road match at Gardner-Webb, 2-1, on Friday evening at Greene-Harbison Stadium.

Like in Sunday's win over Kentucky, Kylie Thompson got the Colonels off to a quick start. The sophomore from Danville scored her second goal in as many games in the eighth minute, giving EKU (4-3-0) an early 1-0 lead.

Gardner-Webb (3-3-1) leveled in the 20th minute when Stina Kleppe converted a penalty kick to make it 1-1.

The Runnin' Bulldogs got the game-winner in the 52nd minute when Jada Newton fired one off the crossbar and in.

Both teams recorded 16 shots on the night. Thompson and juniors Erin Torrence and Marian Wolski led the Colonels with three shots apiece.

EKU attempted 11 corner kicks to GWU's five.

Kacy Eckley and Katie Shaffer went the distance on EKU's backline, while freshman goalkeeper Zoe Aguirre made five saves in the loss.

EKU returns to action on Sunday night when the Colonels travel to face No. 24 Louisville.
