CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Shay Solomon posted a career-high 23 points to go along with five rebounds, but the women's basketball team fell on the road at Austin Peay, 100-65, Thursday in Clarksville.

EKU (2-10, 0-1 OVC) jumped out to an early 20-13 lead after a three-pointer by
Bria Bass. The Colonels started 5-for-6 from the three-point line.

APSU answered with a 22-2 run over the next seven minutes. A free throw by Brandi Ferby capped it off and gave the home team a 35-22 advantage. Eastern Kentucky never rebounded.

Bass pitched in 13 points and nine rebounds.
Catie Kaifes posted her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Governors (6-6, 1-0 OVC) had five players in double figures on the night. Gabby Gregory led the way with a team-high 20 points. Keisha Gregory pitched in 19 points and three rebounds. Arielle Gonzalez-Varner had 16 points and four rebounds. Brandi Ferby posted 11 points and Brianah Ferby chipped in 10 points.

Eastern shot 42 percent from the field but turned the ball over 28 times. Austin Peay shot 44 percent from the field with seven turnovers. EKU was outscored 30-6 on points off turnovers.
