@EKUFootball Game Day: After Off Week, Colonels Go On The Road For Rivalry Match-Up With Racers

MURRAY, Ky. – After an off week, the Eastern Kentucky University football team takes to the road for an in-state match-up against Murray State University on Saturday.
 
Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.

INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series with Murray State, 46-28-4.  The first meeting came in 1929.  The Colonels are 23-15-2 in games played in Murray.
 
-  EKU is 14-4 against the Racers in the last 18.  The last time the teams played in Murray, EKU won 26-13. 
 
-  MSU won 34-6 last season in Richmond.  Eastern took a 3-0 lead before the Racers scored 17 unanswered to take control.  Samuel Hayworth hit field goals of 23 and 30 yards.  Daryl McCleskey rushed for 47 yards on 15 carries.  Austin Scott was 12-for-21 for 102 yards.
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky did not have a game this past weekend.  The Colonels are 3-3 (1-1 OVC) after losing to Tennessee-Martin at home on Oct. 5.
 
-  Redshirt freshman Parker McKinney threw for 313 yards against UT Martin.  He is the first EKU quarterback this season to eclipse the 300-yard mark.
 
-  Eastern's 313 passing yards against the Skyhawks were its most in a game this season.
 
-  The Colonels entered their game against UT Martin averaging 244 rushing yards, but were held to 96 yards against the Skyhawks.
 
-  McCleskey leads the team with 650 rushing yards to go along with four touchdowns.  Alonzo Booth has 403 rushing yards and eight touchdown runs.  McKinney has completed 57 percent of his passes this season for 631 yards.  He has five touchdown passes and just two interceptions.
 
Corey Glass totaled 11 tackles against UT Martin and leads the team with 40 stops this season.  Steven Crowder and Aaron Patrick have eight tackles for a loss each.  Patrick has five sacks this year.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Murray State (4-3, 2-1 OVC) won at Tennessee State, 31-17, on Saturday.  The Racers have won two straight and three of their last four.  MSU also has wins over Pikeville (59-20), Morehead State (59-7) and Eastern Illinois (24-17).  The Racers' only OVC loss was at UT Martin (40-7).
 
-  MSU is averaging 28 points and allowing 30 per game.
 
-  The Racers throw for 256 yards per game and rush for 159 per contest.  However, MSU churned out 232 yards on the ground at Tennessee State.
 
-  Murray State forced five turnovers by TSU.  The Racers have forced 17 fumbles this season and their opponents have lost 11 of them.
 
-  Quarterback Preston Rice has 1,619 yards and 14 touchdowns through seven games.  He has thrown just four interceptions while completing 66 percent of his passes.  He also leads the team in rushing with 290 yards.
