Colonels Host Belmont, Travel to Morehead State this Weekend

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team will host Belmont in its regular season home finale on Friday at 4 p.m. The Colonels will then travel to Morehead State on Sunday for a 1 p.m. showdown with the rival Eagles.

Both matches this weekend are scheduled to stream live on ESPN+.
 
EKU (4-11, 2-5 OVC) dropped a pair of matches to Southeast Missouri and UT Martin last weekend.
 
Freshman Sidney Kemp scored her first career goal in the loss to UT Martin on Sunday, heading in a deep cross from junior Kylie Thompson.
 
Thompson currently leads the Colonels with nine points. It was her first assist of the season (four goals, one assist).
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
 
Belmont (4-7-3, 3-3-1 OVC) is 3-0-1 over its last four games. The Bruins played SIUE to a 3-3 draw last Thursday in Edwardsville.
 
Julie Garst and Niki Clements have both scored four goals on the year for Belmont.
 
EKU leads the all-time series with Belmont, 3-2-2. The Colonels have won three straight over the Bruins dating back to 2016.
 
Morehead State (4-10-1, 2-4-1 OVC) comes into the weekend having lost four straight.
 
The Eagles are paced by Nicole Palmer, who has three goals and one assist on the year.
 
Morehead State leads the all-time series, 8-5-2; however, the Colonels have won three straight over the Eagles dating back to 2016.
 
 
UP NEXT
 
Following this weekend's action, the Colonels close out the regular season at SIUE on Thursday, October 24 at 8 p.m.
