RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team inked three on National Signing Day for the 2020-21 season.

Kendall Wingler, Amerah Steele and Jana García have officially signed their National Letters of Intent to play basketball at Eastern Kentucky University.

"I'm excited to add this outstanding group to the EKU Women's Basketball Family," head coach Samantha Williams said. "I think it is a really talented class that fits the style of play we want to play. They are great people who will continue to help build the kind of culture we are building here. "Our fans are going to enjoy watching them play and they are going to bring excitement to McBrayer Arena."

Wingler is a 5-foot-10 guard from Ekron, Kentucky. As a junior at Meade County High School, the guard averaged 26 points per game on 44 percent shooting from the field. She was named first team all-region, all-state third team and won the third region offensive award. She has averaged 25 or more points per game in her first three seasons at Meade County. She is a member of the honor roll.

"Kendall is a dynamic guard that will be an immediate impact player as soon as she steps on campus," Williams said. "She has the ability to not only score but has great court vision and play making ability to set up her teammates as well. To be able to get a player of Kendall's caliber in our first true recruiting class was huge in what we are building at EKU."

García comes all the way from Barcelona, Spain. The 6-foot guard plays for the Cerdanyola Club Team. García finished fourth in 2017 with her former club FC Barcelona, she finished ninth with her current club during the 2019 season. She ranks fourth in points per game in her age group. García's mother is a former member of the Spanish National Team and played professional basketball for 10 years. Her mom played with the national team on 39 occasions.

"Jana comes from a basketball family, with her mother having played professionally in Spain for 10 years. She has a great understanding of the game, often running the point for her team. Jana gives us length on the perimeter and will stretch the defense with her ability to shoot and score the ball," Williams said.

Steele is a 5-foot-9 guard from London, Kentucky. During her junior year, Steele helped lead her team to a 26-6 record and a district championship. She averaged 21 points per game, with five rebounds and two assists. Steele was named second team all-state during her junior season along with first team all-region. She was named to the Principal's list and the honor roll.

"Amerah is a player that can score in different ways. Not only can she shoot the three, but she can also play off the dribble," Williams stated. "Amerah's work ethic and dedication to the game is second to none and she will be a tremendous addition to our Colonel Family."
