Colonels Set to Face Florida International in Washington D.C. on Friday

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's basketball team will play Florida International on Friday in the Battle for the Capital. Tip from the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington D.C. is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

WHAT TO KNOW
 
Balanced scoring sparked EKU (3-2) to a 99-63 win over Alice Lloyd College on Tuesday at McBrayer. All seven Colonels who scored, scored in double figures. Senior Ty Taylor led the way with 18 points.
 
Three Colonels scored career highs vs. Alice Lloyd - sophomore Tre King (15), freshman Michael Moreno (14) and junior Cameron Carmical (12).
 
Eastern made 35 field goals on 27 assists on Tuesday.
 
EKU leads the OVC in steals-per-game (12.2), free throw percentage (76.7%) and turnover margin (+6.8). The Colonels rank 10th in the country in steals-per-game.
 
The Colonels also rank second in the OVC in scoring (85.4 points-per-game) and three-point field goals/game (10.8) and third in  three-point field goal percentage defense (27.5%).
 
EKU held Alice Lloyd to 28.4% shooting from the field on Tuesday. That is the lowest field goal percentage by an EKU opponent since 2016.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
FIU (2-2) rolled past Cleveland State, 107-61, in Cleveland on Tuesday.
 
Devon Andrews leads the Panthers in scoring at 17.0 points-per-game this season.
 
This is the sixth all-time meeting between EKU and FIU. The Colonels lead the series, 3-2, and have won two straight over the Panthers. The last matchup between the two programs came on Nov. 8, 2013 in Kennesaw, Georgia -- an 83-61 win for the Colonels.
